Brother names almost all of its inkjet cartridges with an LC prefix, and this section runs through the main generations: LC21, LC31, LC41, LC51, LC61 and LC65. Each is sold as separate black, cyan, magenta and yellow tanks so you replace only the color that has run out. HY or HYBK in the code marks the high yield version of the same cartridge.
Singles or Multipacks
Multipacks such as LC513PKS and LC653PKS bundle the three colors in one order, which suits users who print in color regularly. If your printing is mostly documents, buying the black on its own and topping up the colors as needed is usually the more practical pattern.
